Exhibitor registration for the Chippewa Valley Sustainable Future Festival

The second Chippewa Valley Sustainable Future Festival is taking registrations for vendors and exhibitors; businesses and organizations with sustainable practices are encouraged to apply.

The Chippewa Valley Sustainable Future Festival is tentatively scheduled for August 10, 2013 at the Eau Claire County EXPO Center and focuses on educating people about creating a more sustainable lifestyle.

“Several area organizations and businesses were interested in starting an event like this to increase awareness about what sustainability is and to showcase their sustainable products,” said Erin LaFaive, Eau Claire County University of Wisconsin-Extension educator.

She noted that sustainable living is a lifestyle that attempts to reduce an individual’s or society’s use of the Earth’s natural resources. Many people think that sustainability is only about environmental stewardship but economic prosperity and strong and healthy communities are equal components.

The event, which is free and open to the public, will include presentations on gardening, energy and water conservation, alternative energy, food systems, and other sustainable living practices. There will be a rain barrel making workshop and a kid’s activity tent.
